Hip-Hop Jewelry Recap: B.E.T Hip-Hop Awards 2022

Diamond Jewelry Looks at B.E.T. Hip-Hop Awards 2022

The 2022 B.E.T. Awards left us speechless! Across the red carpet and the night's many performances, artists sparkled brightly in diamond jewels that were to die for!

Established in 2001, the annual B.E.T. Awards recognize black talent across the industry and feature newcomers and old favorites together. The 17th installment, held on 4th October 2022, was hosted by Fat Joe and Big Trigger.

Over the years, jewelry has grown to be symbolic of hip-hop with statement pieces and iconic ensembles.

For many artists, it is a method of self-expression, providing a sense of accomplishment. As the artist's lyrics speak of struggle and hardship, their jewelry symbolizes an escape from their everyday battles.

After fighting so long and hard, what better place to show off all your bling than the biggest stage hip-hop has to offer?

This year at the B.E.T. Awards, artists served statement looks in a bid to outdo each other, making it a big night for both hip-hop and jewelry!

From award-winner Gorilla's full bling to Trina's minimalistic pieces, it was a sparkling evening.

Taking the stage to perform her hits 'Tomorrow" and "F.N.F. (Let's Go)," Gorilla sported one of the biggest chains of the year featuring a C-shaped pendant with the letters M.G. all made in diamonds. Iced out from top to bottom, she matched the necklace with huge, sparkling hoops, a triple-layered bracelet, and a diamond waistband.

With this ultimate look, she took home the trophy for Best Breakthrough Hip-Hop Artist of the Year.

D.J. Drama

Co-founder of Generation Now, an Atlantic Records imprint with some big names to its credits, D.J. Drama was crowned Best D.J. of the Year (a title he previously won in 2013) in multiple diamond chains that could be seen for miles around!

Seen in a black hat, he wore backward and a jacket that brought out the diamond's sparkle, D.J. Drama had on every size chain there was!

Baby Tate

Before a mesmerizing medley performance with Deetranda, Topaz Jones, Sauce Walka, and Ray Vaughn, Baby Tate rocked the red carpet in shoulder-length dangling earrings styled perfectly with her graphic outfit.

The 26-year-old rapper, singer-songwriter, and record producer dazzled the crowd: on her neck, she carried a diamond necklace with hanging crosses and engraved motifs.

Kejuan Waliek Muchita, better known by his stage name Havoc, was a popular hip-hop figure in the late 1990s and early 2000s as one half of the group Mobb Deep with Prodigy.

This year, at the B.E.T. Awards, he turned heads once again in the Legendary Freestyle booth wearing a statement diamond chain against a full black shirt.

His low-key fit included a complementary diamond watch that shone through the night.

Fat Joe

As host of the show, Fat Joe wasn't stingy with the bling. With multiple platinum records, he's earned it, too! On his bright blue jacket, the actor, rapper, and producer adorned multiple diamond chains (the most prominent of which featured a large cross faith pendant) and paired them with a matching diamond bracelet.

Fat Joe is known for his hit singles Flow Joe, Jealous Ones Still Envy, Lean Back, and What's Luv.

Joey Bada$$

In what could only be considered one of the best looks of the night, Joey Bada$$ took to the stage with an iconic diamond pendant that had a compiled illustration of the evil eye and infinity sign.

The youngster has said in an interview that he is inspired by Jay Z, 2Pac, and The Notorious Big. With these O.G. influences, no wonder his jewelry choice is so fleek!

The rapper has even been compared to rappers like Nas and Big L.

Katrina Laverne Taylor, TrinaImage Source: Essence

Katrina Laverne Taylor, or Trina, carried a sophisticated diamond look while graciously accepting her 'I Am Hip-Hop' award in a sleek chain and hoops.

Trina rose to prominence in 1998 after a collaboration with Trick Daddy and has been consistent ever since. With hits like "I Got A Thang For You" and "Look Back At Me," she is one of the most prolific rappers of the era.

The award, given in honor of her extensive contributions to the industry, inspired a heartwarming speech and proved her continued influence.

Host Big Tigger

Host Big Trigger is no less of a name in hip-hop. He has been on Black Entertainment Television (the network that sponsors the B.E.T. Awards) since 1996 and has a successful rap career himself. He boasts numerous cameos on other artists' albums and a feature on "Snake," a top-20 song from R. Kelly's 2003 album, 'Chocolate Factory.'

Big Trigger sat down to talk with other artists wearing two Cuban link diamond chains, a glittering ring, and a matching bracelet.

Remy Ma

A member of Fat Joe's group, "Terror Group," Remy Ma is one of only four multiple winners of the B.E.T. Award for Best Female Hip-Hop Artis (2005 and 2017).

The four-time Grammy nominee has also starred in Love & Hip-Hop: New York, along with Papoose, a rapper in his own rights.

Having worked alongside Fat Joe, she shares with him a love of bling jewelry. Her 2022 B.E.T. Awards look included a diamond necklace with an oversized pendant, a bracelet, and large hoop earrings. She also styled the noteworthy look with a two-finger diamond ring featuring teardrop-shaped motifs.

JeezyImage Source: Hiphopwired

Throughout his career, Jeezy has been known for his exemplary jewelry choices, from his signature Rolex to his Cartier shades. It comes as no surprise then that he came packing this year at the B.E.T. Awards!

During an intense appearance on stage, Jeezy chose an icy attire with Cuban link chains wrapped around his neck and a large sparkling ring. The very real performance brought the streets to the stage and gave the crowd chills.

The rapper, born in South Carolina and raised in Georgia, overcame obstacle after obstacle before the release of his first independent album, "Thuggin Under The Influence," which launched his career. He went on to become a grammy nominated artist with multiple chart-topping albums.

Kodak Black

Bill K. Kapri (a.k.a Kodak Black) went back to basics with his gripping jewelry choices! Seen on stage wearing glittering diamond grills, earrings (a perfect earring styling for men), and numerous chains, he left no stone unturned!

His statement jewel of the evening remained the iced-out chain with his initials K.B. in a large typeface.

N.O.R.E Image Source: Paramount

Born and brought up in Queens, New York, N.O.R.E. lifted the roof off during his performance of "Nothin" with Armani White. In a voguish, white attire, the rapper styled his signature diamond pendants and shining bracelets on either hand.

Pusha T

Pusha T has been known to drop some big bucks on statement jewelry pieces. His grills have become his signature, and who can forget the sweet pair he got this year from Gabby Elan? Apparently, the artist gets a new set every time he releases an album!

With such a legacy, Pusha T did not disappoint with his B.E.T. Awards look. Though he left his grills at home, his neck was a maze of diamond chains. He adorned a bracelet in one hand and a watch in the other while giving one of his best performances on stage. At 45 years, it was a lot of fire and brilliance to be packing in one fit!

This year's looks left nothing to be desired! From glittering grills to sparkling chains, it was sophisticated and lavish at once! As custom designs take over the jewelry world, we see increasing expressions of individuality in unique, imaginative ways.
